At 00:24 this morning, truck 87 was dispatched to assist station 63 (Claridge VFD) with a house fire on Mellon Road in Penn Township. White Valley and Export were also on the initial alarm. Once a working fire was confirmed, Paintertown, Level Green, Penn Boro for RIT, Sardis for their special service and North Irwin for their air truck was also added.
Engine 22 (Export) arrived first and was instructed to place a line into service in the basement, in the rear of the structure. Attack 64 (White Valley) picked up the plug and Engine 63-2 arrived shortly there after. Truck 87 with 5 firefighters arrived on scene next and was assigned a line to the first floor, checking for extension and confirming that all occupants (including pets) were out of the structure.
Due to the excellent job by the first arriving crews from Claridge and Export, the fire was contained to the basement. There were no injuries. The fire remains under investigation.
Truck 87 returned in service at 03:00.
