By Captain Mark Ferguson
July 5, 2007

At 01:25 this morning, Truck 87 was dispatched to assist White Valley VFD (station 64) with smoke in a house on Willow drive in the Municipality of Murrysville. Other units on the alarm included engine 63 (Claridge VFD), engine and salvage 22 (Export VFD), truck 20 (Murrysville VFD) and special service 78 (Sardis VFD).

Attack 64 arrived on scene confirming a working fire in the garage area of a two story brick residential structure. Rescue 64 was the second piece into the scene, laying a supply line into the attack truck. Engine 63-2 was next followed by truck 87 with five firefighters on board. Truck 87 was requested to assist interior crews advancing a hose line (off the truck) to the first floor checking for and extinguishing any extension of fire from the basement. Additionally, truck 87 sent a crew to the roof to open up the sky light as well as the edge along the "D" side of the structure since fire was identified inside the exterior wall on side "D".

The fire was under control within 1-hour with crews from all companies remaining on scene performing extensive overhaul work until approximately 05:30. Truck 87 was released and was in service available at 06:00.
