| At 7:20 this morning, rescue 87 with our Rapid Intervention Team was dispatched to assist Irwin on a working structure fire at the Irwin Hotel, Main Street, Irwin Borough. Assisting Irwin on the initial alarm was North Irwin, Shafton, Fairmont-Hanntown, Circleville and Greensburg Salvage. Though an aggressive interior attack was attempted by crews from Irwin, the fire gained control of the structure and a defensive operation was initiated, thus containing the fire to the original fire building.
Truck 87 was requested 30 minutes into the incident to assist with the defensive operations and worked for nearly 7-hours on scene. Numerous Westmoreland and Allegheny County VFD's assisted Irwin on this alarm and luckily no-one was injured.
All 87 equipment was back in service at approx. 15:00. |
