While most folks were being awakened by anxious children excited to see what Santa left for them under the Christmas tree, Harrison City volunteers were being awakened to their pagers alerting them to a working house fire in the Municipality of Murrysville. At 06:38 rescue 87 was dispatched to assist station 20 (Murrysville) with our rapid intervention team at a working house fire on Millstream Court. Assisting Murrysville was Sardis, White Valley and Export volunteers. Rescue 87 provided support on scene and was released by command 20 at approximately 08:50.

At 10:00, station 87 was dispatched to an oven fire on Bouquet road in Claridge. Claridge firefighters arrived quickly and found the fire contained to the stove. The stove was removed from the structure and ventilation was performed. All station 87 units were cleared at 10:20.

At 17:40, rescue 87 was dispatched to assist Grandview VFD with a wreck with entrapment in the area of Hungry Hanks pizza on route 130 in the township. Jeannette and High Park fire departments assisted on the alarm. Rescue, Engine and Squad 87 responded and assisted firefighters on scene with extricating a total of 5 patients from 2 vehicles which struck head on.

While returning from the vehicle accident, Assistant 87-2 requested the engine and squad respond to McMahon drive in the township for a 3-year old choking. The engine and squad arrived to find that a small child was not choking rather he fell on a toy causing his mouth to bleed. Squad 87 remained on scene until the medics arrived while the engine returned to the station.

We hope that your Christmas was not as exciting as ours. On behalf of all HCVFD firefighters, we hope you have a safe and happy holiday season.
