At 02:15 this morning, rescue 87 was dispatched to assist station 64 (White Valley VFD) with a motor vehicle accident with reported entrapment, route 22, in the area of Ricks Sports Bar in the Municipality of Murrysville. Rescue 20 (Murrysville VFD) and station 22 (Export VFD) were also on the first alarm assignment.

Within minutes a member of Murrysville Medic One was on scene reporting one patient entrapment, possibly fatal. Rescue 87 went en route with 4 firefighters. Nearing the scene, Murrysville Medics confirmed a fatal condition on the patient. Chief 64 requested rescue 87 shut down route 22 at Harrison City/Export Road and Rescue 20 to close route 22 at the Cozy Inn cut-off.

Due to the frigid temperatures, squad 87 replaced rescue 87 during the traffic detail. Thanks to a Murrysville Medic One Supervisor, squad 87 returned and all 87 units were back in service at 06:10.
