At 20:11 hours, shortly after our weekly drill, station 87 and 112 (Jeannette) were activated to assist station 106 (Grandview) with a reported house fire on North 14th Street Extension in Penn Township. Harrison City responded with 3 units (truck, engine and rescue) and over 15 firefighters!! Engine 112 arrived first on scene and reported a working fire. Truck and engine 87 were next to arrive. Due to the narrow driveway and trees which surrounded the single family wood framed residential home, the truck was kept on the main drive as engine 87 dropped a 5" supply line up the 300 foot driveway. Engine 112-8 laid in from a nearby hydrant and supplied engine 87 and engine 112 with water. Engine 106 arrived and assisted with additional manpower. A quick knock down of a stove fire prevented extensive damage to the home. Salvage 63 (Claridge) was called to assist in salvage and overhauling the structure. All 87 units were in service within 1 1/2 hours.
