Harrison City Volunteers along with Penn Township EMS were dispatched to assist a resident whose horse had fallen over a hillside shortly after 4:00pm. Knowing that the we would need additional assistance the Westmoreland Animal Response Team (CART) along with Mangery and Son crane service were summoned to assist in the rescue effort of the 31 year old horse.
CART took a newly obtained harness to the scene, and Mangery & Sons provided an off-road forklift and labor to assist in the rescue of the horse. The forklift held the harness in place to support the horse until he made it uphill and near the barn. By 6:30 p.m., the horse was back in the stable.
Harrison City VFD would like to thank the members of the CART team as well as Frank Mangery, Jr. of Mangery and Son Crane for the successful rescue of the horse. We greatly appreciate your much needed assistance. |
