At 1655 hours on Jan 10th 2014, Station 87, as well as Engine 3, Engine 13, Truck 20, Stations 7, 9, 63, and 106 were activated to respond to Value Behavioral Health on Pleasant Valley Rd for a odor of natural gas in the building. Assistant 87-1 arrived on scene first and assumed command. At this time the building had already been evacuated. Upon arrival, firefighters could smell a strong odor of natural gas in the area of the front door of the business. Crews from Truck 87, Quint 7 , and Engine 63 metered the building and searched for a probable cause of the odor. Gas company representatives were called to the scene once the building was scanned with no readings found but a strong odor still at the entry way. After a thorough search with the gas company, it was determined that grease on door hinges caused the smell. All units were then released from the scene.
