Reported lightning strike

January 11

At 0823 hours on Jan 11th 2014, Station 87 was activated to respond to Sunnyfield Ct for a possible lightning strike to a house. Stations 7, 9, 63, and 106 were activated for the assist. Chief 87 arrived on scene with nothing showing from the exterior of the residence. Truck 87 was the first unit on scene. Odor in building prompts evacuation.

January 11

At 1655 hours on Jan 10th 2014, Station 87, as well as Engine 3, Engine 13, Truck 20, Stations 7, 9, 63, and 106 were activated to respond to Value Behavioral Health on Pleasant Valley Rd for a odor of natural gas in the building. Firefighter Mark Ferguson, May 19

For two, hot days, five firefighters from station 87 participated in an intensive training program by New York City and Camden, NJ firefighters. Hosted by the City of Jeannette, firefighters from Jeannette, Ligonier, Greensburg and Harrison City reviewed various aspects of firefighting including Engine and truck operations, forcible entry, and firefighter survival.
